Make It Memorable

Campus France USA invites students and alumni to submit original photography that explores student experiences in France

This initiative is part of the inaugural France Alumni Day, from May 11th to 26th, 2024, two weeks of events around the world to celebrate the international student experience in France!

Submissions accepted through May 3, 2024.

Winning photos will be displayed at the EU Open House, NAFSA, and Embassy and Consulate Receptions. Digital Galleries may be exhibited at Villa Albertine or other locations, and on Campus France USA social media. 

How to Participate

Eligibility  

  • Participants must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Participants may only submit their own original photos, taken while in France on an educational program or after having returned from an education program in France.  
  • Participants must have completed an educational program in France (including long or short-term study abroad programs, degree-granting programs, French language classes, culinary or art schools, etc.)  

Submissions

Participants are invited to submit their photos via this form and then by email to francealumniusa@frenchculture.org 

  • Students and alumni may submit five photos maximum per thematic category. Each photo may only be entered one time, students may submit within one or all of the categories. 
  • Winners might be asked to provide higher resolution images for publication or display purposes related to the contest. 
  • Submissions accepted through May 3,2024 

Thematic Categories 

In this chronological journey, students are invited to share what made their experience abroad special and how they have continued to cherish it. We hope to create a collective portrait of French life through American students’ eyes!  
 
We invite submissions within the following three categories:  
  • Community - Characterize the links between you and your newfound community. 
  • L’esprit francais - Baguettes and Eiffel Tower aside, demonstrate the true French spirit through unexpected details! 
  • Savoir-faire - Details of craftsmanship, traditional skills, or iconic French cultural professions, such as cuisine, art, architecture, fashion, and music.

Calendar  

  • Deadline for submissions: May 3, 2024 
  • Winners announced End of May 2024
  • Winning photos displayed at the Embassy of France in Washington D.C. and at the NAFSA Annual Conference durinng the month of May and June 2024. 
     

Evaluation Criteria  

Winning entries from each category will be evaluated on:
  • Originality and creativity
  • Composition, lighting, and form 
  • Emotion and impact 

Disclosure and Photo Usage 

We hope to be able to inspire future students to study in France through your stories and images. To that end, we would like to create a database of inspiring photography that we can share on the Campus France USA and Embassy social media. By entering this photo contest, students and alumni grant Campus France USA and the Embassy of France in the United States permission to use your photo in perpetuity in any medium. If you would not like us to use your photo beyond this contest, please indicate this in your email address to francealumniusa@frenchculture.org
